A wide diversity of Marine Life! | 6 Humpbacks, 1 Gray, 750 Commons, 5 Dall's porpoise, 1 blue shark, 1 Mola

Perfectly calm sea conditions allowed us to find a whole heap of life today. Right out the harbor, we watched a huge pod of common dolphins, around 750 in this pod. Not long after, we encountered the rarest sighting of the day, Dall's porpoise! These porpoises look like mini killer whales and are the fastest cetaceans on the planet. To start the trip out with such an amazing sight we knew we were in for a great day.

Humpbacks were scattered throughout the channel. Off the coast of UCSB, we watched a young juvenile feeding with hundreds of sea lions (pictured below). We also had a quick look at an adult gray whale here.

We went offshore in search of more marine life. Before spending time with 2 more humpbacks, we watched a mola mola and a blue shark!

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
