SO MUCH LIFE in the channel!

What a wonderful day, seas were light and wind was negligible until the return journey to the harbor. Whales and dolphins were everywhere; in total we watched 10+ humpback whales, 1 fin whale, and 3,000 dolphins!

Our first whales of the day turned out to be a very friendly trio. Of the three, one whale showed extra curiosity mugging us on two separate occasions! Our ecstatic customer Diane aka “Bubby,” couldn’t hold in her excitement whenever this friendly whale would pop up next to us. The two seemed to really hit it off, we’re hoping to name this whale after our awesome passenger Bubby!

Further to the east we came a cross a giant feeding area with 7 humpbacks, a fin whale, and 3,000+ common dolphins. The majority of the whales were chasing the dolphins before a pair of breachers caught our eye in the distance. Upon arriving, they were slapping their pecking fins on the surface and playing in kelp! We enjoyed their presence for a few sequences before flying home to the dock.

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
