After a short hiatus in the channel, the blue whales have returned to feed on a bounty of krill in the SBC.
Captain Adam has gotten reports the last few days of a blue return. Today’s weather allowed us to make the 20+ mile jaunt over to Santa Rosa island where the giants roam.
We watched 9 blue whales spread out over a few miles. Two of the mighty whales put up their giant flukes before disappearing back into the deep blue sea. Pairs and singles made up the majority of our sightings today. To the west of our position spouts lines the horizon as is typical with blue whales in this zone.
It was an amazingly calm, bright, and action packed day with the largest creatures on earth 🌍
Until Next Time,
The SBWW Crew
