Just one of those days! We caught up with our favorite family of killer whales, the CA51's hanging out with close companions the CA49C's. Both trips caught up with this group of 7 killer whales, the day unfolded as follows.

Our friends at Island Packers found this pod of orcas in the hueneme canyon off the coast of oxnard. We decided to send it ~28 miles to catch up with the pod. Upon arriving on scene, the whales were harrassing a group of sea lions. With seagulls circling above and pecking at the surface it was evident they had already made a kill. We put up the drone which revealed some incredible moments of the group sharing their breakfast.

As the whales were heading west, they were split into two groups. CA51C "Bumper," and one of the CA49C's were split from the rest of the group. They were sharing food between themselves. They soon began mating which allowed us to capture some incredibly rare footage!

The second trip of the day caught up with the same whales who made multiple close passes by the boat. They soon began hunting and managed to snag one sea lion in a group of 3. It was an incerdible end to an incredible day in the SBC.

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
