6 humpbacks and more across 2 trips!

2 trips left the dock today, each with their own highlights.

The morning trip started out quickly with ~20 coastal bottlenose right out of the harbor. They greeted the boat with some bowriding and their beautiful bottlenose smile. About 10 miles south of the harbor we hung out with ~100 long beaked common dolphins. A minke whale came up for a quick breath as well.

A report from our friends down east got us moving! Island Packers vessel "Islander," had found 2 humpbacks. We got on scene with 2 very shy humpbacks, we only got one distant look at the pair. On the way home however, our friends on the Condor Express had found another humpback. A small whale with great white pectoral fins made a few friendly passes by the boat. It even performed a few lunges as it fed on anchovies as dolphins and sea lions circled around.

We went back to the same area on our second trip. The wind had picked up but so did the action. The same whale with bright white pectoral fins came close once again, disappearing under our boat. Soon, 2 other whales joined the bonanza and all three whales followed one another. In the distance, another whale made itself known. The wind began to pcikup as we sped back towards the harbor, making for another lovely day in the channel.
