5+ Humpbacks go GRAZY

Stunningly beautiful seas and sunny skies graced the channel today, a stark contrast from our very thick FOGTOBER.

5+ humpbacks joined us on today's adventure. The first two were small juveniles feeding south of the 50-fathom drop-off. We enjoyed some distant breaching from the two as well as a couple of side lunges. Here we also enjoyed thousands and thousands of dolphins, likely over 5,000 over the day.

A bit further west, 3 more humpbacks gave us a truly remarkable show. They were nonstop breaching, pec-slapping, trumpet-blowing, and spy-hopping around us. One of the whales was particularly exuberant and breached next to us multiple times. They were clearly very infatuated with one another as the two smaller whales were closely followed by a larger adult. This was likely a courtship display, albeit one with extra pizazz.

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
