15 humpbacks across 2 Trips!

A wonderful Saturday allowed us to get 2 trips off the docks. Both with equally amazing sightings!

The first trip found 10 Humpbacks in our coastal waters. The first 6 whales we saw were pairs separated by a few miles. All were smaller juveniles and stuck close to their partner. We then found a pair further south and enjoyed a single large lunge feed from the larger whale. It rose like an island forming before our very eyes! More were seen in the area.

The afternoon trip started in the same spot with a different pair. This pair was also feeding, albeit sporadically! A few pelicans gave us an idea of where the giants might come up next. We witnessed ~10 lunges from these whales every few minutes. Further east, a cow/ calf pair was found feeding amongst sooty shearwaters and common dolphins. The calf threw its tail while the mother cleaned her baleen at the surface. On the way home, we passed by an additional whale.

Sightings totals :

15 Humpback whales

2,000 common dolphins

Until Next Time,
