Lungefeeding Trio | 3 humpbacks, 2,000 common dolphins, 100 offshore bottlenose

Updated: Sep 29

One of the prettiest days we’ve had in a while was highlighted by an incredible encounter with humpback whales.

Before finding the humpbacks, we were offshore with a great group of bottlenose dolphins. 100 of these friendly fellows leaped out of the air as we searched the channel.

Along the coast, the feeding activity began. 3 humpbacks lunged on anchovies and threw their pec fins in the air. The trio was relatively mellow as they traversed the channel jumping from baitball to baitball. From the drone, we could see the whales playing with the anchovies instead of actually eating them. They must’ve had a hearty healthy breakfast!

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
