Incredible marine life and a kelping baby whale!

The conditions calmed down significantly in the east compared to yesterday. Wildlife sightings included 7 humpback whales and 1,500+ common dolphins.
The flats were full of life and greeted us with some amazing moments. We first came upon a large group of common dolphins feeding on anchovies. Among the giant group, 2 whales made themselves known. We witnessed a few side lunges as the whales took advantage of the bait gathered up by the dolphins. In the distance, a breaching whale caught our eye. When we arrived, there was a cow and her very young calf. The calf then proceeded to roll in kelp paddy after kelp paddy. It was incredible to see this calf roll around, often just a few inches from our boat! Another 3 whales were also watched, a single and a pair.
It was an amazing day in the channel surrounded by happy and hungry wildlife.
Until Next Time.
