It feels like summer! We had sensational sightings today courtesy of the Santa Barbara Channel.
Most of the whales we watched today were TINY! Most likely, some yearlings have been hanging around looking for a bite to eat. They certainly found it today as Birdnado after Birdnado lit up the horizon. These flocks of seagulls, pelicans, and cormorants found an endless buffet of anchovies to eat, corralled by the dolphins and whales aplenty. We watched as the small whales continued to lungefeed unpredictably on their sides with a few vertical lunges mixed in!

For miles, we were surrounded by dolphins. They were every which way you looked. They were constantly jumping and coming over to the boat, enjoying the bow wake put out by our vessel.

The final and most exciting whales of the day were a pair of subadults who surprised us with some high-flying breaches! Two incredible breaches from one of the whales were the perfect highlight to an outstanding day on the water.

Until Next Time,
The SBWW Crew
