BLACK RAKES Lungefeeds among 12 humpbacks, 3,000 dolphins, 2 minke whales

Today was just another gorgeous day in the SBC.

We traversed the same area we did yesterday with little success. Where there was once 10 whales and thousands of dolphins, we found one humpback, and a couple hundred dolphins. We trudged onwards.

We found the group about 7 miles away from where we had them the day prior. Everywhere we looked there were spouts around us. Among the group was our old freind "BLACK RAKES," a whale that has been sighted in the channel since 2014.

Known for the dark black killer whale rake marks embedded in its beautiful white flukes, Black Rakes is quite a good looking whale! We enjoyed huge tail flukes and some incredible up close and personal lungefeeding from this iconic SB whale. We also spent time with 2 minke whales and were surrouned by 3,000 dolphins as we went.

Bait, whales, dophins, and seabirds were spread out everywhere. The channel is thriving.

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
