2+ Humpbacks and a Mighty Blue Whale

Writer's picture: Santa Barbara Whale WatchSanta Barbara Whale Watch

Another gorgeous day in the channel led us to a couple of giant beauties.

Our first encounter of the day was with a cow/ calf pair of humpback whales. The calf was on the larger side, possibly a calf from last season. We enjoyed their tail flukes as they dove down into the depths.

Continuing west we came upon a juvenile blue whale. The mighty creature popped up right next to our boat on the first sequence. It never fluked but we enjoyed spending time with the world's largest creature. In the distance we spotted large congregations of humpback whales, we just didn't have time to get to them. We're hopeful to get to them on tomorrow's trip!

Until Next Time,

The SBWW Crew
